Release Announcements / SuperGamer V4 Release
« Last post by Darin on July 03, 2018, 09:59:17 PM »
We are about to release a new version that has been done a different way. Putting into car terms: it has the look and feel of the old with a new chassis and engine. The iso is going to be 1.2GB in size. It is complete with Gimp 2.10, Timeshift, VLC 3.02 along with some tweaked cairo dock settings (new animated icons) and a fresh look with new wallpaper. Under a normal build the iso would be 1.8GB in size. I test built several iso's with different compressors for the squashfs. I went ahead and did a trade off and compressed the iso as much as I could to save download time and to not have a user need to install a whole lot of other things to use this, as a result, running live does take longer to get to the desktop. This has no effect once it is installed as it runs like a normal linux install.

General Discussion / Survey: Impact of Microsoft acquirement of GitHub
« Last post by natnaree on June 29, 2018, 01:54:32 AM »
Dear contributors,

I am Natnaree Asavaseri and currently undertaking a research internship at Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. As a part of my research, I am analyzing the impact of Microsoft's acquirement of GitHub.

I would like to conduct a survey to understand how developers perceive the Microsoft's acquisition of GitHub, especially from contributors of Linux distributions and BSD families. So please consider voicing your opinion by allowing us up to 5 minutes to complete our short survey.

We would like to remind you that participation in this survey is completely voluntary and your identity is hidden for anonymity.  Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Any account other than admins and moderators will be deleted if there is no activity within 30 days. Any user, who knows ahead of time they will be gone for longer than that amount of time, should shoot a personal message to the admin or any moderator. I understand things come up and it is a possibility that we delete users accounts that we should not have but this is to limit spammers.

I use Ukuu to do kernel updates for 16.04 based distros/Supergamer.
which was based on the OMG Ubuntu link:

you may need to update to a newer kernel and or graphics driver. this is tested  with latest kernel and nvidia driver
Software Issues / install gimp 2.10 in supergamer
« Last post by moddingden on May 01, 2018, 10:31:13 AM »
All I used the flatpak install to get gimp 2.10 and then remove gimp 2.8 from synaptic.
I got the guide from here :

Installing GIMP 2.10 with Flatpak in Ubuntu-based Linux distributions
You need to enable Flatpak support first. Use the commands below to install Flatpak in Ubuntu.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alexlarsson/flatpak
sudo apt update
sudo apt install flatpak
You can refer to this page to know how to enable Flatpak support in other Linux distributions.

Once you have Fltapak support, use the command below to install GIMP 2.10:

flatpak install
Once installed, if you donít see it in the menu, you can run it using the command below:

flatpak run org.gimp.GIMP

I have not fixed plymouth at this time. If I get it working correctly it throws a frame buffer memory overrun. I do have a second beta iso which I will post in the near future but I am hoping to get plymouth fixed before hand.
