Release Announcements / SuperGamer 6 BETA
« Last post by Darin on March 11, 2020, 07:00:24 PM »
This release is based on 20.04 daily and may be very buggy. I included the Snap Store and some 2d games to play live. This has to be said for some reason, you cannot install the game installers running live. Apt is not setup on the live account and the live scripts do not allow this to happen. There are a few differences between this Beta and the SuperGamer v5 release. Beside the obvious newer base there are a few tweaks to the menu with it being different. I also included newer amdgpu firmware drivers to help with amd gpus.

« Last post by moddingden on March 03, 2020, 06:49:07 AM »
Hi;
Ok so after an update and a purge of xanmod 5.4 my system will not boot  until I go into recovery and then hit resume normal startup.
this is new i even just got more updates but did  change option at load to  acpi off due to random reboots due to a firmware issue.
so just a heads up folks.
the screen loads greyed out supergamer like normal and then keyboard backlight etc goes off as well so no keyboard.

Hi just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren't loading properly. I'm not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I've tried it in two different internet browsers and both show the same outcome.

Software Issues / Xanmod kernel in SGv5
« Last post by moddingden on February 11, 2020, 04:45:58 AM »
Hi;
So I've been running stock Xanmod kernels now since v5 upgrade.
Now I've not changed the scheduler yet but will later to test things out.
So far kernel 5.5 in with no issues Nvidia driver 440.59 works  :)
I'm happy with the setup so far. and unlike my try at Liquorix kernel, I was not bitten.

Release Announcements / SuperGamer 5 Release Notes
« Last post by Darin on January 12, 2020, 04:44:58 PM »
The SuperGamer v5 has arrived. It is based upon the 19.10 base, 64 bit ONLY, which has the 5.3 kernel and XFCE 4.14. I have included Installers for Steam, Lutris and PlayOnLinux as well as cleaned up the look and feel of it. Please DO NOT try to install the games running live as they will not install and they are ONLY to be installed after a Hard Drive install. Use the Live Boot to test your hardware. UEFI support is still hit and miss with the new grub but it does work in Live mode. I am aware of Ryzen 3 support and some motherboards not working. I am trying to figure out a fix as this is a Linux issue and others have issues. The firmware is corrupted on them for the Linux drivers. This is themed darker and the base does not have any games installed. This was done on purpose to give users a choice on how they want to customize their system. If a user want to install most of the games, they should use this, be warned, this will download almost 12GB's then have an installed size of around 20GB's, you need to run this out of a terminal:
Code: [Select]
pkexec apt install games*

Release Announcements / Re: New 19.10 based beta

I am aware of some issues with Ryzen and AMD graphics not working correctly. I am actively trying to figure out a fix that does not affect everyone. The good news is, that if you use NVIDIA graphics cards and select 3rd party install option while installing to the hard drive, you will get the drivers to install. Just to put things in perspective, it took several days of writing the game install scripts so that they worked like what I wanted them to do. Any user who has sudo access can install the games and the icons are removed from all users desktop and any new user desktop that might be added in the future as well as the menu being fixed for all users both current and future. Seems like a normal thing to do, but it is not setup that way by default with the games putting icons wherever they want. This only applies to Steam, Lutris and PlayOnLinux as installing those games I did not fix if they are broken as there are way to many of them to attempt. I also went back to Firefox for some security and performance compared to Chromium.
